The LASPD provides police services to the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second largest school district in the Nation, and has an operational jurisdiction of 710 square miles. 24 hours a day, the LASPD is responsible for the safety of almost 1 million people and approximately 1,100 schools, centers, and administrative offices. MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION LASPD Police Officers regularly participate in Career fairs throughout California. For potential Police Officer Candidates these are great opportunities to gather information in order to make an informed decision about a Law Enforcement Career. Los Angeles School Police Officers are responsible for the protection of all students and staff on their way to and from school and while participating in programs or business relating to the Los Angeles Unified School District. Additionally, the LASPD protects property located at approximately 1,100 schools, centers and administrative offices. Los Angeles School Police Officers may be deployed as a foot beat assignment at any middle or high school, or as a patrol assignment within any greater Los Angeles geographic area. As this is a full time position, police officers are subject to deployment at all hours, generally on a 4 day, 10 hour per day schedule. Become part of something larger than yourself
